For those outside the Banyan community...

Hello! My name is Edward Wunder. I am a new hypnotist in Lincoln, Nebraska. Late Auguast of 200r, my daughter and I were in an auto accident. Although we had bad headaches, there were no physical injuries. Within two hours my daughter presented concussive symptoms while we were waiting to be checked out at a nearby light care
clinic. Immediately they had her transported to an emergency room. There we both received treatments for pain and pre-emptive treatment to reduce brain swelling, and she had tests run. Nothing showed. Prognosis, she'll be better in six weeks to six months.

Shortly thereafter she began having "grey outs" and later black outs. She also developed persistent headaches and head pressure. She also became very child-like when fatigued/stressed. Imagine a three to five year old in 15 year-old's body. My symptoms didn't really present for three months and were quite mundane if not debilitative. "Grey outs," muscle tension in my right shoulder and neck that contributed to headaches/head pressure, and I battled increasing levels of lethargy and fatigue that gradually affected my work, more and more. After six months it was obvious something was wrong for both of us.

Over the course of the year either or both of us went to our doctors, a pediatric psychiatrist, counselors, neurologists, a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a licensed massage therapist who specializes in cranio-sacro massage and energy work, and a hypnotist from Omaha, Roberta Worm. We learned to stretch, relax, and do self-
hypnosis, as well as the importance of, and impractical aspects of, drinking lots of water.

After a year and a half (winter, 2006/2007), we felt we were experiencing no enduring improvement. Her school experience was almost torture and I had quit my job in all but name. I slept an average twelve hours a day, and up to 18 hours a day if there were storms about. Depending on my headaches/head pressure and fatigue, I was able to confirm or deny the local three-day weather forecast.

At this time our doctor (she became a patient of my doctor; it was simply more convenient) recommended a second neurological opinion for my daughter (remember, the first prognosis had been six weeks to six months) and began putting me on drugs. Because of her age, he was reluctant to prescribe for her.

The second neurologist, although discovering nothing new, was very insightful and explained things very clearly to us. The short of it was we have Post Concussive Syndrome. The damage is so molecular, that current testing cannot detect anything. Prognosis: there will be three to five years of incremental improvement from the time of the accident. At some point, the improvement will level off, and that will be the new you. Learn to deal with whatever that is, and compensate accordingly.

At that point, I inquired if going to a hypnotist who specialized in trauma would benefit. He said it quite likely would, but did I know of a good hypnotist? I said I knew of one locally, but unfortunately, I wasn't available. (For those of you who don't know me, I am a 2003 Banyan graduate.) Luckily, I also knew of another hypnotist of national recognition with whom we could work. The neurologist, after taking a few of my cards, recommended working with a hypnotist and to let him know how we progressed.

My daughter's school needs did not allow us to schedule appointments until mid-August. So, earlier this summer I called another hypnotist you may know of, Ron Eslinger. Ron's first question upon hearing what I wanted was, "Why aren't y'all goin' to Cal?" The reason, for those of you who worry I might not appreciate the Great Pony-Tailed One, was that this was a physical, not an emotional trauma. As such, I
wanted to work with Ron. Ron said, "Well, that's what I figured, but I had ta ask."

I won't speak for my daughter, but my results were as follow. First Session: Fatigue ended. Second and Third Sessions: learned to reduce the muscle tightness, integrated cell memory. Fourth Session: Recaptured enthusiasm, reset attitudes to before the accident, reinforced cell memory, muscle relaxation, and gave permission to heal and progress into the future. "It's all right to be better."

While not 100% and symptom free, we are both quite functional, confident, in control of our remaining symptoms and defining our own agendas as well as anyone else, and better than most. By any medical "Pain Management" standard, we are outstanding successes.

So, why not earlier in our work with Roberta? I dunno. Must just not have been time.

Moral of this (by web-standards) long story? It's good to be the client! Look into your own life, maybe you can apply this moral.

It's good to be back. I am sure the hypnotists in Omaha have been at a loss in my absence, but I hope they got by. The good news is I am once again available for referrals for clients that live or work in Lincoln that contact you. I know I've referred several such Omaha clients when they've contacted me. I look forward to our congenial professional relationships, and I'm sure they will become just as close as they used to be.

Well, back to the website development. I think it's more involved restarting an office than it is to open an office.

    All the best,

    Edward

Don't confuse Edward for A Hypnotic Change

Well, here I sit, alone and unsupervised. Be warned, as time goes by you'll read serious entries, humorous entries, questioning entries, entries that take what everyone knows and takes it to its logical conclusion, and who knows what else.

All I know is this. The people who like me, or decide they like me, will love it. The people who don't like me will look for fodder to take things out of context and try to get me in trouble. Hey, it's the 21st century. That's how it is. Put my face on a naked body in a compromising act, or digitize my hand so it looks like I'm giving the finger. Only stupid people are stupid. The others will take it as the ad hominem attack that it is. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ad%20hominem)

As a hypnotist, well, I respect my clients. They're safe. With 5-PATH(r) it doesn't matter what my opinion is about anything. It's the client's processing and resources that count. I record all sessions then burn them (no, not the client) to archival DVDs. All clients are respected and appreciated for what they can become.

Here however, you're on your own. Good luck. See you on the other side. Let's have some fun!

Remember, natural selection ain't what it used to be,

    Edward
